All the backgammon you know — plus one dice rule that changes every single turn.
BRAIN BACKGAMMON is regular backgammon with one small but important twist: how you play the dice. In standard backgammon, two different dice give you two separate moves — one checker moves by the first number, another (or the same) checker by the second.
In BRAIN BACKGAMMON, you instead choose ONE of the two numbers to play, and move by that number repeatedly — as many times as the OTHER die shows. Your first move decides which option you're using for the rest of the turn. For example, if you roll 2 and 5, you can either move by 2 five times (2-2-2-2-2), or move by 5 twice (5-5).
Doubles follow the exact same rule: both dice show the same number D, so you move by D — D times. Double-6 gives you six 6’s to play (not four, like standard backgammon), and double-2 gives you only two 2’s. Every roll now asks you to calculate two completely different lines before you touch a checker.
Same rules, three ways to sit down for a game.
Two players, one screen. Hand the device back and forth and play a full game on the same board.
An AI opponent across three difficulty levels, whenever there's no one else to play against.
Matched against a real opponent, with a rating that tracks your results over time — or send a friend a challenge link and play them directly.
Every roll comes from a standard, unweighted random number generator — the same one on every difficulty level and in every mode. No hidden bias toward the house, the AI, or anyone's win rate. What you roll is what you get.
The full game runs right in your browser — nothing to install and no app store. You just create a free account (an email and a password, a few seconds) so your rating and coins are saved. An Android app is also coming to Google Play, for anyone who'd rather have it as an app on their phone.
Same board, same goal, one different dice rule: instead of two separate moves, you pick ONE of the two dice numbers and move by it as many times as the other die shows. Roll a 2 and a 5 and you can move by 2 five times, or by 5 twice.
It is free. You create a free account with an email and password, which takes a few seconds, so your rating and coins are saved. There is nothing to download — the full game runs in your browser.
In Online multiplayer, choose Challenge a friend. You get a short code and a link to send. Your friend opens the link (or types the code under Join with a code) and you are paired straight into a game — no waiting in a queue.
Yes. Every roll comes from the same standard, unweighted random number generator on every difficulty level and in every mode. There is no hidden bias toward the AI or anyone's win rate.
Online games are rated with an Elo-style system. Everyone starts at 400, and your rating moves up or down after each rated game based on the result and your opponent's rating.
An Android app is coming to Google Play. Until then, the browser version works on phones and tablets too.
